I began my career in the photo pit at concerts. I was the house photographer at McMenamins Crystal Ballroom in 2004, documenting bands for the venue's walls and archives. Within two years I was traveling to music festivals and submitting my photography to wire agencies and publications. This was my dream job, it combined my two favorite things - music and photography. It was challenging work that I absolutely loved. I will never forget the day I received a Rolling Stone Magazine in the mail with one of my photographs printed in it. My proudest publication is the image Tom Petty licensed for use on his 2008 tour t-shirts. The same image was later used for a year to promote his documentary, "Runnin' Down A Dream."

Karen O is a hero of mine.
I spent some time in Los Angeles photographing celebrity appearances, book signings, album launch events, movie premieres, and parties. I even assisted a photographer friend doing portraits at the Oscars. This scene did not suite me, but I did learn a lot and meet some cool people (and some very uncool, if I am being honest). I think the highlight of this time was attending the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. A combination of street photography, concerts and movie premiere red carpets kept the week exciting.

I had my first child in 2009 and my subjects for photography changed. I was not available to travel for festivals and the late night concerts were more challenging to stay awake for. I slowly leaned into portraiture and over the past decade I have grown to love capturing high school seniors and families. I still photograph the occasional concert if I am offered the opportunity, but my regular work is usually doing my best to stop time for families with growing children.
